UPCOMING ACTIVITIES  

Dear BRLC Members,

Greetings!

Towards the improvement of library science education programs and the performance of graduates in the board examinations for librarians, the Bicol Region Librarians Council (BRLC) in cooperation with the Ateneo de Naga University College of Education will be holding a Regional Forum and Consultation on the topic “Schools’ Performance In the Licensure Examinations for Librarians: Implication to Quality Assurance of Academic Programs.” The activity shall be held on February 24, 2012, Friday, 8:00 - 4:00 pm at the James O’Brien Library, Ateneo de Naga University, Naga City.

The said activity aims to identify factors affecting student’s performance in the board examination for librarians towards effecting initiatives on how the Council and the different HEIs could improve their library science programs.  As academic libraries and how these are administered by professional librarians affect academic program quality, the activity will also include discussions on matters pertaining library development.

Invited to attend the regional forum and consultation are library and information science faculty and students, including graduates who have yet to pass the licensure examinations. A registration fee of P500 andP 300.00 for undergraduate students per participant shall be collected to cover meals and other incidental expenses.    

We are please to inform you that no less than the Chair of the Board for Librarians, Mrs. Corazon M. Nera, has agreed to be the main resource person for the activity, together with Dr. Arnulfo A. Reganit, Dean AdNU’s College of Education.

SEMINAR FOR SCHOOL LIBRARIANS 

Dear Colleagues,


The Ateneo de Manila University-Rizal Library, Ateneo High School
Educational Media Center, Private Secondary School Administrators
Association of the Philippines (PRISSAAP) and the Philippine
Association of School Librarians, Inc. (PASLI), in collaboration with
the International Association of School Librarianship (IASL), invite
you to attend the Regional Conference on School Librarianship with the
 theme: Directions for the Future of School Libraries.

The conference will be held on April 26-27, 2012 at the Bacolod
Pavillon Hotel, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, Philippines. It aims
to bring together school librarians in the region to establish and
strengthen relationships and support regional cooperation of school
librarians.

The conference shall have the following sub-themes:

1. Information literacy/21st century skills
2. Reading and the school library
3. School library space and place planning
4. Innovative projects and services
 5. Teacher-librarian partnerships
6. School libraries/librarians of the future

The following are the conference fees:

1. Live-in participants: PhP. 4,000.00 (inclusive of shared room
    accommodations, food,    conference kit, and certificate)
2. Live-out participants: PhP. 3,500.00 (inclusive of food, conference
    kit, and certificate only).
